The StandOut Women’s Leadership Program is a specially designed enhancement program for professional women leaders in the private, public or community sectors.  Adapting a learning approach that is theoretical, experiential and practical, the StandOut Women’s Leadership Program challenges women leaders to identify their limiting behaviors and craft solutions to overcome them.



Leading Ladies’ Network (LLN) is a nonprofit women’s leadership development organization in Ghana that supports women through programs and resources that enhance their development as leaders. The mission of LLN is two-fold:

  • Fill the future women’s leadership pipeline
  • Strengthen the capacity of existing women leaders



Women leaders progressing to more senior and strategic roles continue to face significant challenges, in a wide variety of sectors.  Significant research suggests that inhibitory factors are both internal and external to women, and that women leaders often find all-female development environments particularly effective in addressing these issues.

Program Structure

Ten (10) specially designed training modules designed to enable participants to identify solutions to behaviors, rehearsed knowingly and unknowingly, which effectively sabotage their leadership and may even undermine their best intentions.


  • Module 1. Knowing You, Your Workplace & its Politics: What kind of leader are you? What type of leadership style have you been practicing? This introductory seminar arms participant with self-awareness of what is good and what is potentially destructive about their leadership. It also awakens women leaders to the politics of the workplace to help them successfully navigate the “unspoken rules of work”-- issues that women are often oblivious to which negatively affects their leadership. The self-assessment charts the path for the week-long learning experience.


  • Module 2. The Image of Leadership: Did you know that it takes 5 seconds to form a first impression of you? Research proves that how you package yourself is a determining factor in the level of success and influence you are likely to enjoy in your profession. The goal of this module is to help participants to understand the internationally accepted do’s and don’ts of leadership style expressed through dress and grooming; ensuring they stand out for the right reasons.


  • Module 3. What's Really Holding You Back? Do you have a personal improvement goal that has proven resistant to your sincerest intentions, smartest plans, and best efforts? If so, this module is for you. Based on innovative new psychological research that has helped numerous professionals achieve success, this module will help participants understand why they sometimes fail to achieve targets while providing strategies to overcome the limiting behaviors.


  • Module 4. Speaking with Power: An interactive practical workshop designed to help women leaders gain confidence, increase effectiveness and make a positive impression each time you speak. Topics include: How to give world-class presentations; delivering speeches with power; and speaking on media platforms - a guide to channeling your best no matter what channel you are on.


  • Module 5. Dine Like A Diplomat: This module is a practical dining seminar conducted by a Protocol School of Washington certified Corporate Etiquette & International Protocol Consultant. The seminar features a 4-course tutorial meal where participants will learn the skills of fine dining. Participants will learn business and social dining strategies featuring American style, Continental style and Asian dining techniques.


  • Module 6. How to Assert Without Hurt: Women often value the approval of others so much that they struggle to confront people when it is necessary. However, when women do assert themselves, they are sometimes perceived as arrogant, aggressive or abrasive. How do we stand up for our opinions and state our cases while maintaining a sense of civility towards those we lead? How do we win the respect and support of colleagues while remaining effective and productive leaders? This blended module showcases strategies of assertiveness with principles of personal diplomacy to enable participants confront with power and grace.
  • Module 7. Leadership in the Private Sphere: How to balance home and non-work relationships – For many women leaders, whatever happens in our personal lives invariably carries over to our work. How do we ensure the lines between personal and the professional are not blurred? What strategies can we employ to ensure that work does not suffer, even when we are stressed or hurting?


  • Module 8. Knowing What You’re Supposed To Do: Unearthing your hidden strengths for leadership success. How deliberately do you think ahead and plan what kind of life you want to lead? This module will shake you out of your comfort zone, and change the way you think about yourself and your leadership. Based on the groundbreaking research from Harvard Business Review, this module will help participants to gain greater clarity on where their true strengths lie and strategize on how to position themselves for effectiveness and influence—personally and professionally.


  • Module 9. Treating Yourself Like an Asset: This module focuses on wellness and self-care. Women leaders are often outwardly-focused and neglect their health and wellness. Certified wellness coaches will lead participants through exercises designed to establish them on a life-long journey good health and wellness. Coaches will work with each participant to develop personal goals for healthy eating, exercise and leisure.


  • Module 10. Outclass The Competition: Participants will leave this seminar with an understanding of the norms and protocols governing international business; learn strategies for tasteful self-promotion; and gain the insights that will enable them acquire the polish of accomplished world-class professional.


The StandOut Women’s Leadership Program 2015 runs from Monday March 16 - Wednesday 18, 2015.
